Cartaxo is a Portuguese city in the district of Santarém, with about 10,700 inhabitants. Integrated in the region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley.
It is the seat of a county with vast agricultural resources, being the second largest wine producer of the Lezíria do Tejo. The project "Cartaxo, Capital do Vinho" aims to promote one of the main economic activities of the county. Their businesses are mainly linked to agriculture, livestock and ceramics.
In cultural terms, Cartaxo has a modern Cultural Center, which offers shows from theater, dance, music, cinema, among others.
Of the patrimony of the city we emphasize the Mother Church of São João Baptista (inaugurated in 1522), the Cultural Center of Cartaxo and the Rural Museum and of the Wine.
