This week KW Business announced its intention to acquire a property from the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Porto to support children and parents who have to travel to this Hospital Unit to receive treatments.
This project, with a start date set for 2018, also contemplates the possibility of future expansion of the initial space, equating it to a hostel, in order to accommodate all those who need to stay in Porto due to internships at the IPO.
This project will be financially supported by a foundation, to be created in the future by KW Business, thus reinforcing the group's commitment to social responsibility policies. The foundation will also aim to support the employees of the Business Group by granting scholarships to their children to complete their studies in Portugal or abroad.
The Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto Francisco Gentil (IPO) provides medical care in the field of oncology. The Porto IPO has a pediatric service to which 100 new cases involving children and young people arrive every year. This figure represents 1% of the 10,000 new patients that the institution treats each year.
