Santa Clara

Santa Clara is a recent parish, belonging to the North Zone of Lisbon with an area of 3.36 km² and 22,480 inhabitants (2011 Census).

The parish of Santa Clara resulted from the union of the extinct parishes of Charneca and Ameixoeira, as well as some parcels of territory previously belonging to the parishes of Lumiar and Santa Maria dos Olivais, in 2012, after the Administrative Reorganization of the city of Lisbon.

The Ameixoeira area is the most sought after area to live, either because of its proximity to the subway station, or because of its proximity to the main roads connecting Lisbon to the periphery: North-South Axis, Calçada de Carriche, Motorways: A8, A36 and A40 .

In addition, it has green areas, among which it is important to highlight:

  • the Jardim da Quinta de Santa Clara (or Jardim da Ameixoeira), a baroque-style garden, formerly an old 18th-century farmhouse, which includes a children's playground and a kiosk;
  • the Campo das Amoreiras Garden,
  • the Jardim do Parque Oeste, etc.

Another point of interest is the Church of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, before 1500, it is a baroque-style building that underwent several expansion works over time. Contains panels by Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho and figurative tiles from the 18th century. XVIII, which line the nave.
