Parede

Parede is a town located on the coast of Estoril 12 km from Lisbon. It is a small but nice village (3.6 km²) integrated in the parish of Carcavelos-Parede, belonging to the municipality of Cascais.

The Parede is an essentially residential village with a diversified offer of traditional commerce and its main attraction is its proximity to the sea and the beaches. The beauty of the famous Estoril Coast, stretching from Lisbon to Cascais, is evident on beaches such as the Avencas beach, which belongs to this village.

Benefiting from a mild climate with an average record of 260 days without rain per year, it was once the destination of wealthy families and the Portuguese and European nobility of the time they followed the royal house and there they had their houses and palaces. It is worth taking the tour and still feel the atmosphere of those times.

Famous for its iodine-rich beaches, Parede has always been a destination chosen by all who seek relief from pain in bones or joints. Nearby, in front of the sea, is the old Sanatorio de Sant'Ana (founded in 1904), nowadays called the Sant'Ana Hospital and belongs to the Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Lisbon. It is one of the most well-known and respected orthopedic hospitals in Portugal.
