The Parabola of the Crab applied to real estate consultants

In any profession there are characters whose behavior fits into patterns that are transversal to all professions and that only amaze those who have no experience in managing human resources. Some of these characters that swarm in the ecosystem of real estate professionals wear the crab shell, but it is normal to find these real estate consultants divided into two different species.

Here is the parable that describes them:

There was a man on the beach who sold crabs and carried two buckets full of live specimens. One of the buckets was open and the other was covered with a net.

A lady, seeing that, approached the fisherman with curiosity and asked:

- Why did you cover one of the buckets and the other not?

And the crab seller replied:

- Because I sell two species of crabs. The crabs of one species try to get out of the bucket by leaning on each other by making a chain, thus getting everyone to get out. So I have to keep the bucket covered.

- Crabs of the other species also try to get out, but whenever one of them tries to climb, the others below him, grab him by pulling him down, and in this way, no one can escape.

Ah right! Do you recognize the latter species? They may even be able to remember someone who replicates the "pull-down" crab behavior.

It is inevitable to encounter them throughout their lives, whether in the professional circle or in our personal circle of friends and acquaintances.

What to do when we identify one?

With our friendships it's easier, just identify the pattern described and get it out of our circle. It is simple to move away and make you feel that we don't want you around.

In the professional circle it is not always so easy, especially if you are a boss, but in the last place the rule of absence always prevails. But above all it is important to surround ourselves with colleagues who are more concerned with establishing links and building chains and it is this firewall that will always defend us from the seconds.

Moral of the story: The force of the chain is stronger than that of those who try to pull us down!
