Estrela
Estrela is a parish in Lisbon, belonging to the Historic Center Zone of the capital, with an area of 4.60 km² and 20,308 inhabitants (2021). It was created as part of the administrative reorganization of Lisbon (2012), as a result of the aggregation of the former parishes of Lapa, Prazeres and Santos-o-Velho.
Its privileged geography, stretching from the Estrela Basilica to the banks of the River Tagus, make it one of the most exclusive parishes in Lisbon. It owes its name to the imposing Basilica da Estrela, built in 1779 and its history is made around the many palaces and palaces and historical monuments that served as a residence for the nobility of yore and that today constitute an element of attraction for those who wish to live here.
