International Sharing School

Sharing School is an International School recognized for a totally innovative teaching system in Portugal, based on the International Baccalaureate® (IB) system.

There are 2 school campuses, one in Taguspark, in Oeiras (with 2 buildings located next to each other) and the other in Funchal, in Madeira Island.

The International Sharing School is a Multicultural School made up of more than 675 students from 55 different nationalities. The emphasis is on valuing learning, through the sharing of knowledge among all stakeholders in the school community, from parents to staff.

From 4 months to 18 years old, from pre-school to 12th grade, ISS provides the teaching of 8 different languages to its students throughout their academic training, with a team of more than 160 professionals. Each class has an average of 16 students and the proportion is 1 teacher for every 8 students.

The academic path is divided into 4 phases, the last 3 of which are based on the IB education system:

  • From 4 MONTHS to 2 YEARS - Early Years Programme: program centered on the child in order to promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of all children.
  • From 3 to 12 YEARS - Primary Years Programme: this program focuses on developing the child's soft skills in the classroom, but also in the outside world.
  • From 12 to 16 YEARS - Middle Years Programme: this program provides a learning structure that encourages students to become critical and reflective thinkers.
  • From 16 to 18 YEARS - Diploma Programme: This program prepares students to follow the academic path in higher education, anywhere in the world and at the best universities.

There are currently 4,655 IB schools spread across 149 countries with over five million students and 50,000 teachers. In Portugal, the 2 ISS campuses are one of the few schools authorized to teach according to this model.

International's Sharing School history dates back to 1980, when the Madeira British School was founded:

  • In 2013, the Sharing Foundation acquired the British School and changed its name to Madeira Multilingual School. That same year, Madeira Multilingual School began the authorization process to become an IB World School.
  • In 2017, the International Sharing School begins its expansion process to Portuguese-speaking countries, with Cape Verde and Equatorial Guinea being the first countries to host an ISS school. The growth strategy involves opening an ISS school in all CPLP countries, which represents a universe of more than 350 million inhabitants.
  • In 2018, the Sharing Foundation begins expansion on the continent and acquires new facilities at Taguspark, in Oeiras (former facilities of Colégio Taguspark).
  • In 2019, the ISS Campus in Oeiras started its first year as an International School in Lisbon, offering the 3 IB Programs.
  • In 2020, Taguspark Campus receives authorization to manage the Diploma Program (DP) as an IB World School. The IB Certificate of this program allows students who successfully complete it to access the best universities around the world.
  • In 2022, International Sharing School was named as one of the 10 Must-Watch International Schools in Europe by the International Advisory Board of K-12 Digest Magazine, made up of many education experts from around the world.

The school provides school transport from Lisbon, Oeiras, Cascais, Sintra, Amadora, Odivelas, Loures and nearby municipalities. Transport is not included in the fees and is subject to availability.
